Whether you are a beginner or an advanced student, you will find a friendly and supportive environment at Unity Martial Arts, where our instructors are dedicated to helping you achieve your goals. Join us today and discover the benefits of yoga and martial arts at Unity!

Unity Martial Arts was founded in 2003 by Tanner Critz in Atlanta, GA. In 2008, the Critz family moved back to Arkansas and opened a school on Markham near the corner of Kavanaugh. Unity now owns a building purchased and remodeled with love by its own students. Unity represents four different schools combining their talents to create the best outcome for each person to enter the door (Cuong Nhu Karate, Wu Tai Chi, Iyengar Yoga, and Brazilian Jiujitsu).

Unity started as a humble martial arts school, but it has grown into something extraordinary – an academy of cross training that nourishes not only physical prowess but also fulfills the social and intellectual needs of its dedicated students. Children discover their potential, engaging their minds, bodies, and creativity in ways rarely found in traditional educational institutions. Adults find a vibrant community, forging connections, honing leadership skills, and receiving invaluable parenting support. All ages benefit from the balance of four disciplines under one roof.

With a permanent home in our magnificent 9000 sq/ft academy, Unity opens doors for endless growth, offering Cuong Nhu Karate, Iyengar Yoga, Brazilian Jiujitsu, and Tai Chi – a perfect blend of tradition and innovation.

Students from four years old into their nineties combine and mix practices from these four disciplines to strive for growth, community and lifelong fitness. Unity Martial Arts is not just a school; it’s a testament to the power of community, determination, and collective achievement.

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s a beginner’s class like? What do I wear?
Beginning a martial arts or yoga program can be daunting, but there's nothing to worry about! A beginner's class typically includes an introduction to the basics of the chosen program. The focus is on developing fundamental skills that serve as a foundation for future training. Anything that can be challenging will be well explained, and any special challenges you have will be taken into consideration. For your first class, wear comfortable clothing that you can turn upside down in. Once you decide you’re ready to train, we’ll get you fitted with the perfect training gear.
Wear comfortable clothes that allow you to move freely. You should arrive about ten minutes early so you have time to look around and introduce yourself to the instructor and other students. You should follow the instructions and rules of the class and ask for help whenever you need it.
Although any sport or activity has some risk involved, our team instructors follow safety protocols and carefully monitor students to ensure a safe and supportive environment for our students. We understand that each student has their own unique limits and we encourage rest and feedback during exercise. Because we place such a huge focus on safety and injury prevention, we're proud to say that injuries are very few and far between with our program. In fact, people often see LESS injuries in their lives due to improved strength, balance, and coordination. Modified practice can even be used to TREAT your injury for faster recovery.
Consistency is key to progress in martial arts and yoga. We recommend attending classes at least two times a week to build a strong foundation and continually develop your skills. Students can learn with any frequency, but the testing schedule is based on a student coming at least twice a week and practicing at home.
Absolutely not! No hidden fees – just one straightforward monthly membership fee that unlocks a world of incredible benefits. Join our growing community of thrilled members who have already discovered the exceptional value we offer.
Martial arts training can begin at a young age. All children are different, but between 4 and 5 years old, children gain enough focus to be able to stick with a 45 minute class (on average girls are ready closer to 4 and boys closer to 5). Have them come in and try it to see! Our school offers developmentally-appropriate separate classes for kids, teens, and adults to ensure everyone has the opportunity to learn and grow.
The best way to determine what is right for you is to try a class. Our web special give you a free week to try any and every class appropriate to your age and experience. These trial classes allow you to experience the training firsthand, ask questions, and get a feel for our school's atmosphere. This will help you decide what program or combination will best ignite your personal interests and goals.
