Fitness Classes

Fitness classes are open to the public and to Cuong Nhu students who want extra conditioning . Classes are free to monthly members.

CX Fit Monday and Wednesday 6:00am—7:00am, and Tuesday 8:00pm--8:30pm
CX-Fit classes focus on functional movements performed at relatively high intensity and scalable to one's current fitness level. The classes focus on short, intense intervals with a limited rest period and incorporate gymnastic movements, Coung Nhu movements and weighted exercises. CX-Fit is based on both CrossFit and Cuong Nhu fitness principles and will help develop accuracy of movement, coordination, stamina, speed and strength.

Soft Style Class Tuesday and Thursday 11:00am—12:00am
Two mornings a week we focus on the soft style influences of Cuong Nhu, primarily Tai Chi Chuan and Aikido.  The soft styles, which focus on balance, posture, fluidity and perception are a great way to build strength, flexibility, and balance without the risk of injury. Soft Style Class is suitable for adults of all ages regardless of martial arts experience.

  • Beginners
Students beginning regular Cuong Nhu training may advance more quickly by taking on the soft side of Cuong Nhu at the same time as the hard, which is the primary focus of regular beginners' classes.  A student may also elect to take only the soft style class, though they would progress separately from the ranking system.
  • Seniors
Softy-style class provides a low-impact way for seniors to participate in a physically and mentally engaging discipline. Adults with injuries or weaknesses are given special recommendations for modifying movements.  Students move at their own pace with the level of intensity that best suits their physical condition.
  • Advanced Students
As students progress towards their black belt, it becomes more and more essential that they master the soft side of Cuong Nhu in addition to the hard.  While these concepts are covered in their primary classes, most students benefit from additional study of the subtleties of soft styles.
