Grasshoppers (4.5
- Kindergarten)
Our youngest students take a 45-minute class that
introduces martial arts principles and conditions
bodies and minds. Each
lesson focuses on an age-appropriate theme such as
coordination, personal safety, or teamwork. Grasshoppers
not only
greatly increase
their chances of success
in the martial arts, but show great improvement in
school
and other athletic activities.
Tigers (1st-2nd grade beginners)
Cranes (3rd-6th grade beginners)
Tigers and Cranes participate in one-hour classes
that include self defense and fitness training. We use fun games and drills to to improve strength, reflexes, coordination,
balance
and knowledge of Cuong Nhu martial arts. Kids practice how to work as a team and how
to get
the most out of competing against others. Tigers and Cranes enter the national Cuong Nhu ranking system by taking tests and earning stripes
and new belts.
Students
graduate from this level when they reach Purple
Belt or if they are pre-teen, when they are mature enough and feel comfortable
working out with the teens and adults.
Monkeys (1st-6th grade purple belt +)
As students advance, Monkeys learn sparring, grappling, and more complex self-defense techniques. Protective gear is required as students begin to participate in more free-form matches. Fitness and self-discipline expectations are higher at this rank.
Dragons (1st-6th grade blue belt +)
The Dragons Leadership program is optional for advanced kids. Dragons attend a 30-minute lesson addressing how to be good leaders and helpers at Unity, in school, and at home. Additionally, they assist adult teachers in one lower-ranked children's class each week.

Parents Are Saying...
"We are stunned with how much our child has learned
about history, culture, self-discipline, conditioning,
training and respect for self and others. It all seems
to emanate from Tanners' leadership and the joy and
discipline of Cuong Nhu. Tanners' invention of Padded
Weapons Camp is brilliant.
Henry R. Chalmers, Esq.
"I am a father with three children and a busy
professional. I looked for several years for physical
activities that would meet the needs of various kids...But
against all of these Cuong Nhu shone out...It was obviously
physically demanding, but it was something my kids could
do together. It is giving my kids something that can
keep with them for life. And the atmosphere is conducive
to kids, unlike many other martial arts programs, which
are essentially mills. Indeed, the program is so excellent
that (against any expectation I ever had), I started
doing it myself and now workout with my kids. It is
fabulous."
